Tim Kornacki has been promoted to director of Corporate Emergency Management. Kornacki will continue his work with all Kaleida Health staff to prepare the organization for all hazards that may impact the environment of care. He is responsible for the coordination of emergency management planning and training across the system. In addition, Kornacki is responsible for ensuring that Kaleida Health meets all regulatory requirements for emergency management. The Emergency Management Department provides support down to the unit level.
Under Kornacki’s leadership, Kaleida Health’s Emergency Management Department has taken the lead with community and international partners to increase the region’s level of readiness for any crisis that may occur. The team has organized internal and external emergency drills with community partners such as local law enforcement and fire departments, the United States Post Office, the Department of Health for Erie and Niagara counties, the Erie County Hazmat team, local universities, and the WNY Health Emergency Preparedness Coalition. Under Kornacki’s direction, Emergency Management has been providing support to Kaleida Health’s new affiliate partners, providing guidance on best practice.
Kornacki joined Kaleida Health’s Emergency Management team in 2009. He received an associate’s degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Niagara County Community College and a Bachelor of Science from Buffalo State College. He is a Certified Healthcare Emergency Planner (CHEP) and a Certified Hospital Emergency Coordinator (CHEC).
