Cayden was born at Oishei Children’s Hospital (OCH) and was diagnosed with tuberous sclerosis complex, three days after he was born. Tuberous sclerosis complex is a genetic disorder in which benign tumors grow within different areas of the body. After his diagnosis, it was discovered that Cayden had tumors in his brain and in his heart, as well as kidney masses. Cayden was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) after experiencing an hour-long seizure. To monitor his seizures, Cayden needed an EEG, a test to examine neurological activity in the brain. Today, Cayden is an amazing one-year-old and continues to go to OCH for his tumors.
